2014 Optima
Right as the SEMA Show in Las Vegas kicked off, Kia debuted the freshened-up 2014 Optima, which sells in the highly competitive midsize sedan market segment. Three years ago the redesigned Optima, which was designed by Peter Schreyer, was unveiled at the New York Auto Show, kicking off a new design language for the entire Kia lineup. The Optima has since sold more than any other Kia in the lineup, with over 150,000 units sold in the United States for 2012. Now the Euro-inspired sedan is receiving some revised styling and other tweaks, improving on the already wildly popular model. Updates to the 2014 Optima sedan include obvious exterior changes like revised front and rear fascias. The exterior of the car still carries an athletic, sleek look that has made the Optima a sales success. New LED lights are featured for the foglights, front positioning lights, and the taillights, bringing a new level of technology to the car. On the inside, Kia added various comforts and luxuries that weren’t present before. Available trims include the LX, EX, SX, SX-Turbo and SX-Limited. Two electronic screens deliver vital information to the driver. A 4.3-in. TFT LCD instrument cluster provides the driver with a customizable display that can show a huge variety of information like vehicle speed, engine RPMs, and the outside temperature. There is also a full-color, 8-in. telematics and navigation screen to assist the driver in a variety of ways. All occupants enjoy the standard 8-speaker Infinity sound system with HD radio, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and Sirius XM Traffic.
Other standard features come with every 2014 Optima sedan, regardless of trim level. These include solar glass, chrome exhaust tips, heated side mirrors, front fog lights, a six-speed automatic transmission and chrome exterior door handles.
